Privacy Policy

The Value Vector ("V²", "we", "us") is a stock-screening tool at thevaluevector.com. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how it's handled. We collect as little as possible and never sell your data.

Plain-language summary: We store your email and an encrypted password so you can log in, plus the watchlists and saved screens you create. We use a few third-party services to run the site. We don't sell your data or show ads.

What we collect

Data	Why
Email address	To create and identify your account, log you in, and send account emails (confirmation, password reset).
Password	Stored only as a salted hash by our authentication provider (Supabase). We never see or store your plaintext password.
Watchlist & saved screens	The stock symbols you star and the filter presets you save, so they're there when you return and sync across your devices.
Onboarding state	A single flag noting whether you've seen the welcome tour, so we don't show it again.
Technical / security data	Standard request data (IP address, browser type) processed transiently by our host and bot-protection provider to keep the service secure. We don't build profiles from it.

We do not collect payment information (V² is free), and we do not run advertising or third-party tracking/analytics pixels.

How we use it

To operate your account — authentication, sessions, and saving your watchlist and presets.
To send necessary account emails — sign-up confirmation and password resets. We don't send marketing email.
To secure the service — bot protection and abuse prevention on sign-in and sign-up.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data, and we don't share it except with the service providers below who help us run V².

Service providers

V² relies on a small set of third parties. Each processes only what's needed for its function, under its own privacy terms:

Supabase — database and authentication (stores your email, hashed password, watchlist, presets).
Cloudflare — website hosting, plus Turnstile and Bot Fight Mode for bot protection.
Resend — delivery of transactional account emails.
Third-party market-data providers — sources of company fundamentals and prices. These provide data to us; we don't send them your personal information.

Data retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. If you'd like your account and associated data deleted, contact us (below) and we'll remove it. Unconfirmed accounts may be purged periodically.

Your choices

Access & update — change your email or password anytime from Manage account in the app.
Delete — request account deletion by contacting us.
Watchlist & presets — remove any saved item directly in the app at any time.

Children

V² is not directed at children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
